This month the Kern Community Foundation awarded a $3,000 grant to Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue to support Borel Fire relief efforts.
Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue was gifted 500 3-string oat hay bales to share
with those impacted by the fire, helping them care for their animals. And the $3,000 grant will cover the transportation costs of feed. Those affected by the fire, in need of hay, please contact Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue at [email protected] or call 661-300-3913.
The Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue was established in 2019 and has always been dedicated to the care and best interests of equines.
The announcement from Aaron Falk, President & CEO of Kern Community Foundation was put out to the public September 11, and Fatima Tulfo Director of Community Impact sent a press release to the Kern Valley Sun about the grant September 13.
The Kern Community Foundation with its partners have given $33,650 in
direct relief and recovery for the Borel Fire. Kern Community Foundation remains committed to supporting the community through the recovery process following the Borel Fire. The foundation encourages the public to continue contributing to the Borel Fire Relief Fund
Other nonprofits are welcome to request funding from the Borel Fire
Relief Fund by filling out the Assistance Request Form through the foundation’s
online grant portal.

The Foundation works with nonprofit and government stakeholders, establishing safeguards for securing proper fund distribution to be used for long
