John Joseph Collins II

John Joseph Collins II, 86, of Lake Isabella, CA, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025.
Born in the Bronx, NY, John moved to Los Angeles in 1952. After serving proudly in the U.S.
Army, he purchased Isabella Auto Parts in 1967, which he operated for 22 years.
In 1982, he married Frances and together combined their families—three sons and a daughter.
John loved traveling, and after retiring at 53, he and Frances spent 11 years visiting every state in
the country in their RV.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; sister, Dorothy Gregg; brother, Richard Collins; daughter,
Sherri Hanning; sons, Wade Childress, Michael Collins, and John “Jack” Collins; seven
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and extended family. He
was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Collins.
Services:
Friday, Aug. 22-Everyone is invited to join the American Legion Riders leaving from Knuckle
Up Ministries at 8:30am, escorting John to Bakersfield National Cemetery for a Military Service
at 10:45 am
Saturday, Aug. 23 – Religious services at Weldon Christian Church at 11am, followed by a
Celebration of Life at the local V.F.W. at 1:30pm
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in John’s name to two causes close to
his heart: Honor Flight Kern County and/or the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
