Open letter to Jim Seger. ...from Dee Gregory
It has been almost six months since we lost you. Good bye...... is so hard to say and accept.
We still feel your presence in the music we play. We all miss you. Your voice, your special sound, gave us hours of wonderful musical memories and joy. We have always been in awe of your talent.
Firstly, thank you for your service in Vietnam. You served a tour and decided to go back a second time. You gave much of yourself.
As a memeber of the Elks Lodge in Wofford Heights, you performed in talent shows and some very clever, humorous skit presentations, all with good sportsmanship.
You joined the Los Angeles based music organization... "The Songmakers", sharing your song, making friends and creating fans.
Together, we created a Karaoke business.. J.D.K. We performed at "Shadys Bar" in Lake Isabella for approximately two years. You handled the microphone and with your strong voice and warm, encouraging attitude, created a comfortable place for the patrons to sing Karaoke and enjoy themselves. They loved you!
We offered live music as well as Karaoke, sometimes performing with friends or just the two of us. Memories stand out in my mind of performaces for Whiskey Flats Celebrations, Burlando Assisted Living, Cheyennes Resaurant, The Pine Cone Inn, Cheryls' Cafe, Private Parties, weddings, funerals, Del Webb in Bakersfield... The Fireside Inn in Newberry Park, music jams and local music parties in the Kern River Valley. Your voice rang out, strong and clear..
Thank you for so many years of true friendship... quick wit, humor, laughs, wonderful songs ....and sharing your amazing musical talent. Singing with you will always be one of my greatest memories. I am so grateful. It was an honor.
Thank you!
