Proudly serving the Kern River Valley in California

Dr. Nancy Diane Boyd M.D.

Posted

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Nancy Diane Boyd M.D. who died peacefully in the arms of family after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 76 in Bakersfield, CA. She was born on June 2, 1949 in Spokane Washington to James and Maxine Buhler as their fourth child and only sister to James Buhler Jr., Frederick Buhler, and Dr. Dan Buhler M.D.

Her education and training were extensive and included San Ramon HS, UC Berkeley (BA Comparative Literature), UC Hayward (Pre-Med), UA Guadalajara (PhD Medicine), UC Riverside, University of Maryland, Creighton University, USC, Valley Children’s Hospital Fresno (a Stanford affiliate), Cedars Sinai Santa Monica (a UCLA affiliate), and others. She applied her years of education to her career as a Pediatrician in the Kern River Valley for 30 years where she found pleasure in treating generations of the same families. When she wasn’t working she had a great love of the outdoors and used every chance that she could to explore the surrounding areas. Those that knew her often admired her intelligence, and genuine love for the children that she treated. When those were coupled with her strong will and tenacity, there was little that she could not do for the people that she loved. She lived an impactful life that will be felt for generations by those whose lives that she had changed.

She is survived by her husband Dave (m. 1991) and their four children, Kathy Purdie, Travis Boyd, Christine Johnson, and Zachary Boyd and his wife Angela. She also had eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild with another on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Maxine Buhler.

No services are planned at this time.
