The Kern Valley Junior Little League Softball team continued their winning ways as they swept a doubleheader versus Boron. They escaped in game one 12-8 and crushed Boron in the second game 20-8.

Kern Valley jumped out to an early lead as they put up six runs in their first at bats. They added three runs in the second to make it 9-0. Boron got back in the game in the top of the fourth as they tallied five runs to cut into the deficit.

Kern Valley responded with a pair of runs in their half of the fourth to put the cushion at 11-5. Boron tried to rally again in the fifth as they scored three times to make it 11-8. Kern Valley had the answer as they closed out the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Jade Montes led the Kern Valley squad with three hits, including a double. Gabby Eastes collected a pair of hits, including a double, while Kenadie Young, Brenna Elliott, Josie Wilder, Amber Mcharen, and Ashley Plante each had one hit. Emmy Bechtel scored a pair of runs, while Teagan Liske, Bella Goffinet, and Naomi Tapia each scored a run.

In game two it was all Kern Valley, as they scored early and often. Three in the first, seven in the second, two in the third, and finished it off with eight in the fourth to close it out. Boron scored seven runs in the fourth and added one run in the fifth, but it was not enough to overcome Kern Valley’s offensive explosion.

As a team, Kern Valley banged out nine hits. They would also collect 16 walks to help push the team to the victory. Leading the way for Kern Valley was Young with two hits, including a double. Eastes and Plante each had two hits, while Montes cracked a double. Kiera Hayes and Bobbie Pruitt each had one hit.

Bechtel and Liske each touched home plate twice. Elliott, Wilder, Mcharen, Goffinet, and Tapia would cross the plate one time apiece for Kern Valley.
