Kern Valley’s jayvee baseball team got it done in the bottom of the sixth when they played at home versus Boron.
The Broncs won the see-saw battle with a walk off double in their final at bat. The final score favored Kern Valley 11-10. Setting the stage, the Broncs trailed 10-9 as they came to bat in the bottom of the sixth. Jackson Price worked out a walk and started the game-winning rally. He swiped two bases to wind up on third with the potential tying run. One out later, Wyatt Blagg delivered run with a double to tie the game at 10 apiece. Blake Baughman stepped in the box and connected for the game-winner. Blagg raced home and the victory went to Kern Valley.
The Broncs jumped out early as they scored five in the bottom of the first. After three innings the score was sitting at 6-3 for the Broncs. Boron added one in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-4. Kern Valley responded with three runs to widen the margin at 9-4. The Bobcats put up six runs over the next two innings to take the lead 11-9. But in the end, it was Kern Valley getting the win after the game-winner.
The Broncs in the game collected nine hits. They were led by Blagg who had three, including the game-tying double. Blake Embree and Baughman each had two hits. Price had one hit that went for two bases, while Shiloh Galvan contributed a single in the game.
Blagg recorded three RBIs, while Baughman added two runs knocked in. Embree and Joey Galvan each had one RBI for Kern Valley.
Baughman in relief picked up the pitching victory. S. Galvan and Price also three innings for the Broncs. Price recorded nine strikeouts in his pitching stint of four innings.
Head coach, Wayne Moore said, “This was the most exciting game of the season, ending with the walk-off hit by Blake Baughman.
