Women’s Undergarments –An 1800’s Fashion Show!

Posted

April 8 History Talk: Women’s Undergarments –An 1800’s Fashion Show! Do you ever wonder what is worn under those beautiful dresses from the 1800’s? What’s the difference between a crinoline and a hoop skirt? What were they made from? And why in the world would anyone want to wear a corset? Cindy Stevens and Sue Porter will be answering these questions and sharing secrets of feminine dressing from the skin up, using antique garments from their great-great-grandmother’s wedding in 1857 and reproduction garments. Different styles of petticoats, crinolines, and bustles will be displayed, as well as antique and reproduction dresses. Join us as we get dressed on Wednesday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at the Annex. The public is welcome to attend.
