A vegetation fire reported Friday afternoon near Glenville stopped forward progress as crews gained control of the incident, according to fire officials.
The fire, identified as the Alder Fire, was first reported around 2:30 p.m. near the Highway 155 corridor in Kern County. Initial reports estimated about a quarter-acre burning in brush and trees before the fire grew to approximately one acre.
Fire crews responded with engines, hand crews and water tenders, working to contain the fire as it spread through vegetation.
KCFD Public Information Officer Jeremy Ruiz, speaking to the Kern Valley Sun, said crews were able to stop the fire’s forward progress and had begun releasing some equipment from the scene.
“They got a handle on it,” Reese said.
No injuries, evacuations or structure threats were reported as of Friday afternoon.
Fire personnel remained on scene to secure the area and monitor for any remaining hot spots as the incident moved toward full containment.
