Kern River Valley, CA — August 25, 2025 — Fire crews continue to battle the Little Fire, which has now grown to 2,548 acres and reached 29% containment, according to the U.S. Forest Service – Sequoia National Forest. A total of 363 personnel are currently assigned to the incident.
This morning at 7:00 a.m., the California Interagency Incident Management Team 6 (CIIMT 6) officially assumed command of firefighting operations. CIIMT 6 is coordinating closely with the Tulare County Fire Department Incident Management Team to ensure a unified response and a smooth continuation of existing strategies.
The transition to a Type 2 interagency team underscores the complexity of the fire and the importance of maintaining momentum in suppression efforts. Additional resources have been brought in to bolster ground crews, engines, and aerial support.
While containment has improved slightly, officials warn that weather conditions and rugged terrain remain challenges. Crews are continuing to work on strengthening control lines and protecting nearby communities.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to remain alert for changing conditions, follow evacuation instructions, and monitor official channels for road closures and safety updates.
