[Bakersfield, CA – November 3, 2025] - In response to the ongoing federal government shutdown, Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) has launched emergency food distributions to support CalFresh recipients and federal employees across Kern County, including outlying communities beyond Bakersfield.
Starting immediately, CAPK will provide supplemental food support at designated distribution sites throughout the county. These services are available to:
• CalFresh beneficiaries — must bring their EBT card to receive food assistance.
• Federal employees — including those working without pay at Meadows Field Airport, Social Security offices, and other impacted agencies throughout Kern County.
This week's distributions include:
Bakersfield: CalFresh only distribution
Monday-Friday 9am-7pm
Kern County Fairgrounds
Bakersfield: Federal employee only distribution
Monday-Saturday 8-11am
CAPK Food Bank
Ridgecrest: Calfresh and federal employee distribution
November 4th 8-11am
Desert Empire Fairgrounds
Delano: Calfresh and federal employee distribution
November 5th 9am-7pm
Delano Memorial Park
Taft: Calfresh and federal employee distribution
November 6th 9am-7pm
Franklin Park
Mojave: Calfresh and federal employee distribution

CAPK is calling on the community to help fill the gap:
• Donate food: Drop off non-perishable items at the CAPK Food Bank at 520 Washington Street, Bakersfield, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Donate funds: Every dollar helps feed a neighbor in need.
• Volunteer: Help sort, pack, and distribute food to affected families.
