Little League open season with ceremonies on Saturday

By Ray Conner

It’s that time again. The baseball, softball, and T-Ball fields of the Kern River Valley will soon be filled with Little League players.

Opening day is scheduled for April 13 then it will be let the games begin. This will take place at Mt. Mesa Park and they have a full slate to get into the swing of things. Here’s your chance to get a preview of future baseball and softball stars here in the Kern River Valley.

Currently, Pastor Ben Richey will do the opening day prayer. Each team of the Kern River Valley Little League will be announced. James Quinn and Wade Sellers will throw out the first pitch in memory of Paul Quinn. J. Quinn and Sellers are son and stepson of P. Quinn. The honor of memory is for him being a member of the KRV Little League board and volunteer.

The National Anthem will be sung by eight-year-old Lillie Kennedy. All the festivities will be announced by DJ Danny Hill and he will continue with a live broadcast.
