Kern Valley wins one and loses one in JV volleyball

The Lady Broncs JV volley ball continued HDL action this past week. They would split their matches this week. They took care of Cal City on the road, but fell to Bishop on the Kern Valley court.
The Lady Ravens of Cal City and Kern Valley played a see saw match that was eventually won by Kern Valley in two sets. The Lady Broncs opened the match by winning the first set 25-21 to take the lead 1-0. They followed that up with another hard-fought contest. The second set score was 25-22 for Kern Valley giving them the match.
A total of nine service aces were recorded by the Lady Broncs in this match. They were led by Kenadie Young who delivered four aces. Anna Allen and Brynnleigh McCarthy each had a pair of aces, while Taylor Kristy served up one ace for Kern Valley. Leading the way in kills was Jade Montes with four. She was followed by Young who recorded three kills. McCarthy was credited with a pair of kills, while Samantha Wyly, Allen, and Riley Wilkins each had one kill in the match.
On the defensive side of the net, the Lady Broncs saw Kristy collect a team-high 11 assists. Young had one assist. Wyly led the team in digs with eight. Amber McAhren finished with seven digs, while Young had six. Kristy and Emmalyn Bechtel each had three digs in the match. Allen got in on the dig action as she had one.
Two days later, Bishop came to town in a big league matchup. The Lady Broncos would gain the match with a pair of set wins. The first set score favored Bishop 25-16. They followed that with a 25-23 set win as they closed out the HDL match.
Wyly, Montes, and McCarthy shared the team lead in service aces with one apiece. Kern Valley as a team recorded 10 kills. McCarthy led the team with four kills. Kristy and Ashley Plantes each had two kills, while Wyly and Young each finished with one kill. The assists leader for the Lady Broncs was Kristy with seven. The digs leader for Kern Valley was Plante with seven. Wyly followed with five digs, while Kristy and Young had four digs apiece. McCarthy finished with three digs, while Bechtel had a pair of digs.
The Lady Broncs were at home once again on Tuesday as they faced off with Mammoth. They will go on the road to Boron on Thursday.
