The public will have two events coming up in the community, running through mid August.
The first is a Disaster Relief event held as a popup event Wednesday August 7, from 10am to 1pm at 6069 Lake Isabella Boulevard in Lake Isabella. There evacuees can find household items donated by Dollar General and other sponsors and distributed by Kern River Valley Bridge Connection.
The second event Chief Deputy Dionisio Mitchell of the Kern County Fire Department announced when he invited the public to attend a local assistance center August 10 through August 13 in Lake Isabella.
Dionisio told the public at the Borel Fire Meeting Sunday, August 4 at Wallace Middle School, that the department has pulled every possible county asset for a Local Assistance Center, which will be held Saturday August 10 through Tuesday August 13 from 10 am to 7pm daily. He said, “We’re going to be opening our local assistance center at the Kern River Valley Senior Center at 6405 Lake Isabella Blvd, Lake Isabella.”
Dionisio said that multiple state agencies, county departments and faith-based non-profits would be available offering assistance during that time.
He told the public to report needs to the call center they set up at (661) 873-2660.
The firefighter who was raised in the Kern Valley also said that he has always been impressed by the community stepping up coming together and supporting others in the community in need. “We want you to get this back to feeling like your home and back to a place of normalcy.”
