Historical society holds Bonsai Show

Photos and Story by Catherine Stachowiak

The Kern River Valley Historical Society held a Bonsai Show at the Kern Valley Museum (KRVHS) annex cross April 27 and 28.

The show featured refined and mature trees, of some students of Mr. Jack Reynolds, with no admission fee to the public. Reynolds also demonstrated bonsai activity on a fresh tree.

Reynolds is a member of the society and docent.  He is a retired community college instructor who first attained a Bonsai plant in 1977 as a gift.  His study of Bonsai with Ted Matson of the Huntington Library and Botanical Garden, since the 1980s, was part of his becoming a certified Bonsai teacher.
