South Fork Middle School took their pre-Thanksgiving athletics very seriously this past Friday, November 22.
The school’s athletic director, Teddie Anzaldo was the one organizing this event. She really loves to make things fun for students over at the school. Anzaldo said, “We play knockout. Each kid plays. We have three rounds. So they have to make it to the final round. And then in the final round if they’re the winner they get to take home a frozen turkey to help their family. And this is our third year doing it.”
Teacher Mindi Young told the Kern Valley Sun, “It’s a competition Teddie Anzaldo holds every year. Students play knockout against each other.”
Melissa Beaury, office personnel at South Fork Middle School, was definitely into the spirit of the holidays. She was happy that the school was decorated in harvest style and Christmas all around campus. She said Mountain Vista Market donated turkeys for the Turkey Knock Out Day, in the PE classes.
Superintendent Dr. Rhodes had comments as well. He said, “A lot of appreciation to Teddie Anzaldo as she’s doing the Turkey Shoot. And the kids are really excited about possibly bringing that turkey home to help with that Thanksgiving dinner. And that’s a fun thing to do too as well. It’s a lot of fun to see everyone in the holiday spirit. And we’re looking forward to having a week off and getting back at it again.”
Rhodes said the Christmas program at South Fork is December 20, 9am to 11am, just before Christmas break.
