JV Broncs hold on for youth football victory

The Kern Valley Youth football program was in action again this week. The Broncs teams played against Boron in week two of the season. The JV Broncs team held on for the 20-12 win to even their season at 1-1.
The Broncs were led on offense by the legs of Xander Anzaldo. He rushed for a total of 87 yards and scored the three touchdowns in the Broncs victory. Talon Montes threw for 48 yards and carried the ball for 28 yards more. Chasen Alvarez picked up all 48 yards receiving and finished with 47 yards on the ground.
The defense was led by Alvarez with six tackles. Montes and Izeck Padilla each collected five tackles for Kern Valley. Anzaldo, Hank Gonzalez, Luke Carver, and River Jenkins each finished with four tackles in the game.
Freshmen:
Kern Valley 33 – Boron 0
The Freshmen Broncs made it two straight wins as they took care of Boron. Three different Broncs carried the ball across the goal line. Kian Bachman, Nolan Baker, and Kash Lange each scored for Kern Valley. These three players also contributed on defense with multiple tackles. Helping keeping Boron scoreless was Wyatt Huckaby and TJ Johnson who brought down multiple Boron ball carriers.
Sophomores:
Boron 13 – Kern Valley 8
The sophomore Broncs battled hard, but came up short as they dropped the decision to Boron. Callum Watts had the lone score for Kern Valley. Brady Davis collected positive yards in rushing and also collected multiple tackles. Kaleb Wooda and Baron Payne helped out defensively as they also collected multiple tackles.
Varsity:
Boron 7 – Kern Valley 0
This defensive battle saw only one touchdown scored in the game. Unfortunately for the Broncs it was Boron that crossed the goal line. Both defenses were able to stop the offenses. The low scoring game saw each team move the ball, but never sustain a drive for consistent scoring opportunities.
Offensive highlights included Dominic Diprima hit Roamn Avila on a pass play that resulted in positive yardage Eli Dorado. Avila would also carry the ball multiple times that resulted in first downs. Anthony Sanchez rushed for eight yards that resulted in a first down.
Leading the Broncs defense was Sanchez with five tackles, including a sack of the Boron quarterback. Conor Merritt was credited with four sacks, while Shane Price forced and recovered a fumble for Kern Valley.
