The Broncs continue league play with success as they dominated Boron.
Kern Valley went on the road to take on the Bobcats. They used a 10-run fifth inning to put the give them the win.
The Broncs took advantage of Boron’s pitching as they were issued 16 walks in the five inning game. Combine that with 18 stolen bases as a team and that adds up to a the 18 runs they would score in the contest. The final score was 18-2. As a team, the Broncs were limited to just three hits. They swung the bats aggressively as they struck out 12 times as a team.
Kern Valley opened the game by plating two runs. They duplicated that in the second to go up 4-0. Boron was able to answer as they had one runner cross the plate. The Broncs scored once in the third and three more in the fourth. The Bobcats scored one in their half of the fourth. With the score sitting at 8-2, the Broncs galloped around the bases to score 10 times in the top of the fifth.
Jackson Price led the team in hitting as he collected two hits. Barrett Cameron had the other hit for Kern Valley. Price was credited with two RBIs, Owinn Liske, Evan Brooks, Carter Beaury, and Cameron each had one RBI.
Running wild on the bases, the Broncs were led by Price with five stolen bases. Maddox Beaury swiped three, while Wyatt Blagg, Blake Embree, and Blake Baughman each had a pair of stolen bases. Liske, Brooks, Joey Galvan, and Brandon Cox each had one steal.
On the bump for the Broncs was Price. He picked up the win as he went all five innings. He allowed one hit and two runs. Price walked one and struck out six.
Head coach, Wayne Moore said, “Even though we won big, we were rusty coming off spring break with 12 team strikeouts. The team ran the bases aggressively and exceptionally well. We also played well defensively.”
Kern Valley’s next game will be on Friday at home. They will entertain Rosamond. The following day, the Broncs will play in another round robin league tournament in Rosamond.
