Williams, Goulding earn their medals

Bella Williams and Addie Goulding won medals at the Bakersfield College Invitational.

On October 27 the Kern Valley Cross Country teams competed at the Bakersfield College Invitational.

Williams and Goulding both came home with a medal. Elida Cantu also ran in her first high school cross country race. Williams and Goulding were both very excited about their medals which were well earned.

Will Bunting had his best race of the year and was the first Kern Valley athlete to finish the race followed by Gunner Davis just a few feet behind Bunting. Chane Randall also had his best race so far along with Mack Wargo. Trey Bushling got off to a great start, but pulled a muscle which slowed him down. He did finished the race.

On Oct. 2 Kern Valley had its first home race against Cal City and Mojave. The Cal City boys’ team has finished in second place at the state championships the last two years and has another strong team.

Davis finished first for Kern Valley with the time of 21:06 and eighth place. Bunting finished in ninth place at 21:20. Bushling had his best race of the season and finished in 10th place at 22:26. Wargo continues to improve and finished in 11th place at 23:07. Randall finished in 12th place at 30:14. Cal City won the race 15-50.

In the girls race Williams finished in fourth place with the time of 22:37. Goulding came in fifth place with the time of 23:24. Olivia Wagner finished in 10th place with the time of 27:12 and Cantu came in 13th at 33:00.
Hazard said, “Almost everyone set their Personal Record (PR) at the race on Wednesday and continue to improve.”

Today, Kern Valley has another home race against Bishop. The race will start on the Kern Valley High School track at 3 p.m.
