The South Fork Union School District (SFUSD) held their monthly meeting August 8, 2019, and is ready for the upcoming school year.
MOT manager Ron Ferris detailed some of the summer cleaning and upgrades; steam-cleaning of the rugs was able to be accomplished, buses went in for repair with the county, and new ovens were installed.
Ferris also detailed a vandal incident on July 10.
“I think we were able to catch them early,” Ferris said, “what with the siren and the yelling.”
July 28, however, a Sunday afternoon, around 5:30 p.m., cameras caught vandals stealing gas from cars, and cutting the lines underneath.
Surveillance was submitted to the Sheriff’s Office, and the incidents are still under investigation.
In the Superintendent’s report, Superintendent Kim Kissack reiterated this year’s theme, “Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader.” Next month, class data will be released regarding testing scores in reading.
SFUSD will hold its next monthly meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the Kelso Valley Campus.
