The two came up to introduce themselves as the opponents to the other team running for mayor. Yeehaw Yolanda said, “Howdy Ya’ll, Yeehaw Yolanda here, along with Desperado Destinee. And we would like the honor to be the next Whiskey Flats mayor, yeehaw!”

The Chuckwagon Ochoa’s are campaigning for Whiskey Flat mayor to raise money for The Salvation Army, the well-known entity founded by William and Catherine Booth, to help souls in 1865. The organization provides food to those in the Kern Valley who are in need, including the elderly and families with children.

The 4 foot 7 inches of determination, Yeehaw Yolanda said she is running against another candidate who “looms large.” She said good things come in small packages. Her team is raising money for “a new chuck wagon, to feed hungry cowboys.” Her mayor candidate team wants to make sure the Kern River Valley has nourishment through their
Food and Friendship program of the Salvation Army. Translated from Whiskey Flat talk, that means that her team is raising finances to purchase a new, modern day van, for deliveries to help the needy around the Kern River Valley.

Among their many fundraising events, the Chuckwagon Ochoa team plans to hold a Super Bowl Sunday event, February 9, at 12pm at the 178 Bar and Grill in Lake Isabella. They just held a Meet and Greet at Dick Weed’s Brews & Grub Saturday, January 4.
