Ministero crowned champion at Battle of the Barn
The Lady Broncs wrestling squad competed at the Farmersville Tournament in December. Naomi Tapia, only a freshman wrestled her way to a first place finish to lead the Kern Valley team.
There were 22 schools that competed in the tournament. The Lady Broncs would see four others grab top-six places for the tournament. Three wrestlers would take third, while one came away with a sixth-place finish. Juniors, Summer Santos, LP Ministero, and Delilah McComas all took home third place. Rebekah Harwell grabbed a sixth place for Kern Valley. As a team the Lady Broncs would come in sixth out of the 22 schools.
On Jan. 2 to start the new year off, Kern Valley participated in the Battle at the Barn in Caruthers. This tournament saw 17 schools send wrestlers to battle on the mat. The Lady Broncs had one winner, one take second, one take third, and one wrestler finish fourth. With these finishes, Kern Valley came away with a fourth place as a team.
Leading the way was Ministero who was crowned as a champion for the Lady Broncs. Senior, Megan Abbott made the finals, but came up short to finish in second. Coming in third was Santos and taking fourth was freshman, Kiera Hayes.
