Structure fire in Lake Isabella

A firefighter battles a house fire on Chain Ave. in Lake Isabella on the morning of Monday, Dec. 4.


At 4:45 a.m., the Kern County Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 1831 Chain Ave., Lake Isabella. The first arriving engine crew was faced with a double wide mobile home 25 involved in fire. One occupant was home at the time and made it out of the home safely.

The first crew to arrive quickly attacked the fire with hand lines and additional crews established a water supply at a nearby fire hydrant. Large volume fire monitors were deployed to control the fire and one additional hand line was deployed to protect exposures. Although the fire resulted in a total loss to the structure firefighters were able to protect a nearby mobile home.

The cause of the fire is unknown and Red Cross was called to provide assistance to the home owner.
