Fire crews stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire in Bodfish Sunday evening after the blaze burned an estimated half-acre, according to incident updates.
The fire, now named the Deerpoint Fire, was reported at approximately 5:23 p.m. near 3450 Lake Isabella Blvd. in Bodfish, according to emergency dispatch information monitored by the Kern Valley Sun.
The fire was initially estimated at one-half acre, moving south while backing against the wind, based on information from units at the scene. An update from incident command at approximately 5:43 p.m. reported that forward progress had been stopped.
Multiple fire resources responded to the incident, including engines, patrol units, division supervisors, water tender support and air resources.
No injuries, evacuation warnings or structure threats had been immediately reported as of publication time.
