Little Fire Grows to 2,532 Acres, New Evacuation Order Issued

Posted

According to the latest reports, the Little Fire continues to burn aggressively in the Lake Isabella area, now mapped at 2,532 acres with zero percent containment. Over 400 personnel are assigned to the incident, working with air and ground resources.

Storm cells that passed through Saturday afternoon brought periods of rain and moisture, helping to slow the fire’s spread. Despite the weather assistance, officials say crews remain in a brutal fight, and night-flying aircraft will continue operations through the evening.

As of 3:00 p.m., Saturday, the Tulare County Fire Department Type 3 Incident Management Team has taken command of the incident.

Road and Recreation Closures

  • State Route 178: Partial closure remains in place.
  • Old Kern Canyon Road: Open and serving as a detour for SR-178.
  • Kern River: Closed to recreation from Borel Road down to the Delonagha Day Use Area.
  • Rancheria Road (25S15): Closed beginning at Alta Sierra Ski Resort.
