Kern Valley golf team ready to play through

By working daily on proper swing mechanics, and teaching proper club selection, course etiquette, scoring, rules while out on the golf course.
– Scott Tedrow

The Kern Valley golf team in its second year back after a long hiatus is ready to tee it up and drive.
Scott Tedrow is back guiding the young team that sees a total of 10 golfers on the squad. He will go at it alone as he has no assistant coaches. With only three returners, the Broncs will have to come together quickly as there is no non-league matches this year. They will jump directly into HDL action. The first match will be in Bishop today.
The current Kern Valley team has four seniors, four sophomores, and a pair of freshmen. Notably there are no juniors on the team. The three returners are two seniors and a sophomore. Coming back as seniors are Jacob Lopez and Donovin Valenzuela. Joining them as a returner is sophomore Waylon Sargent. New to the team are two seniors in Ajay Montgomery and Hayden Ross Marquez. Also, for their first time on the Broncs golf team are sophomores Hunter Autman, Connor Ennis, and Autumn Reins. The freshmen on the squad are Dylan Carson and Ewan Shea.
Tedrow plans on making sure his charges know what the game of golf stands for and how the traditions of the game have stayed basically the same since the beginning. He also wants to see the Broncs progression from match to match. When asked what the goal was for this season he said, “To teach our new players the fundamentals of golf, while helping our returners improve their skill level and love for the game.”
He will get there by with a hands on experience for the Kern Valley squad. The game of golf requires repetition and making the right choice. That might require the club choice, and other paths to make it to the fairway of being a good golfer. Tedrow on attaining his goal said, “By working daily on proper swing mechanics, and teaching proper club selection, course etiquette, scoring, rules while out on the golf course.”
With just four teams in the HDL, the Kern Valley team will have to gather some quick experience in order to compete with the likes of Bishop, Cal City, and Desert. Each of these school have their own course for practices and matches. Kern Valley is the orphan of the league as they have no home course. They must travel to practice and also to matches. With all the odds against them, the Broncs will have to progress fast, improve as a team, and make the other teams respect what they battled through to play the game of golf.
