The Broncs JV basketball team came into the night looking to stay the course to their unbeaten league season. Their opponent, Rosamond had other ideas.
The see-saw battle saw both teams tentative on the offensive sides of the ball. Points were hard to come by, but not from lack of trying. The shots were making it to the basket, just not dropping through the net. Down the stretch both teams went scoreless the final couple of minutes. When the halftime horn sounded, the Roadrunners were holding a slim three-point cushion at 19-16.
Coming out of the break the Broncs were determined to get back into this game. The battle continued to rage, but it was Kern Valley finally finding the mark and dropping in points. The Broncs defense also stepped it up as they limited the Rosamond team to just seven points in the third quarter. The Kern Valley offense poured in 13 points to erase the halftime deficit. Heading to the final quarter it was 29-27 with the Broncs holding the slight edge.
The fourth quarter came down to Kern Valley missing opportunities to put their opponent away. The scoreless drought for both teams was evident as they combined to score just seven points total. Unfortunately, for Kern Valley they came out on the short end of the stick. They were held to one lone free throw made in the quarter. The Roadrunners scored just enough as they managed to add six points to their total and send the Broncs to their first HDL loss of the season. The final score was 33-30 for Rosamond.
Note: No individual stats were made available for this game. The Broncs played their last game of the year on Tuesday when they faced off with Cal City.
