Caltrans Traffic Alert: State Route 178 Emergency Repair Daytime Full Closures Continuing This Week in Kern County

The Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces continued daytime full closures of State Route 178 in the Kern Canyon through Friday, September 19^th, for emergency power line repairs.

The following operation will occur September 17^th through September 19^th, weather permitting:

• State Route 178 will be closed to traffic through the Kern Canyon from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
  
  

Closures may continue for longer periods of time, if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur.

Caltrans wants to remind drivers to stay attentive and undistracted while driving and to be cognizant of workers and vehicles in Construction and Maintenance Areas and slow down while driving through Work Zones.
