Body identified in Kern River death investigation near Keyesville

KEYESVILLE — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man recovered from the Kern River near Keyesville earlier this week as 30-year-old Scott Clay Kuykendall of Lake Isabella.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Kuykendall was discovered in the Kern River about a quarter-mile south of the Keyesville South Boat Ramp on May 5 at approximately 12:53 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office said a forensic postmortem examination has been completed, but the official cause and manner of death remain pending.

Authorities stated next of kin has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing.
