Sophomores pitch a shutout

The youth football sophomore Broncs shutout Boron.

Boron came to town on Saturday, and their sophomore team left without scoring any points. Kern Valley’s defense held them in check. The Broncs got two scores, which were enough to secure the win.

Kern Valley totaled 169 yards of offense. They rushed for 86 and threw for 83. They were able to punch it into the end zone once on the ground and a scoring toss would complete the 14-0 victory.

This game was offensive in the first half and defensive in the second half.

All 30 points in the contest were scored in the first half. In the second half the defenses took control and never allowed their opponents into the end zone.

Kern Valley scored first to make it 6-0. A 60-yard scoring toss gave the Broncs the lead. Boron tied it less than a minute later to make it 6-6 in the first quarter. The Broncs regained the lead with another scoring toss. This time it was for six yards to make it 12-6. Boron’s defense recovered a fumble in the end zone late in the second quarter to tie it at 12-12.

The Broncs got the eventual game winner 28 seconds later on a 65-yard scamper to close out the scoring.
