Shooting suspect in custody

At approximately 6:48 p.m. on Friday, March 9, Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 2900 block of Scovern Street, near Steensen Street, in Lake Isabella to investigate a shooting that had been reported in the area.

When deputies arrived on seen, they found a male victim who had been shot three times in the chest and abdomen. The victim was air lifted to Kern Medical in Bakersfield and was listed as critical yet stable condition at this time.

Deputies were able to locate the suspect, 33-year-Old Alfred Neith, who was standing in a front yard nearby. A firearm was seized at the scene and the incident is believed to have started over an argument between Neith and the victim regarding a drone Neith was flying in the area.

Neith is currently in custody at the Central Receiving Facility for attempted murder. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110. Case number 2018-00036664.
