On Saturday, November 9, 2019, Roni Hamlet, beloved wife and sister passed away at 52 years of age.
Roni was born to Charles and Linda Malear in the state of Florida, USA. She dedicated her life to her God Jehovah on July 17, 1982. After graduating high school, Roni began working at the Kern Valley Sun Newspaper. She had a great passion for her job and was very good at it. She developed skills as a proofreader, typist, ad builder and helped in many special projects such as the phone book and Whiskey Flat Miner. Roni also had a passion for dancing and singing. She had a beautiful voice and she enjoyed singing at their family karaoke gatherings. For about 10 years Roni was a country line dancing instructor at Ewing’s in Kernville on Sunday evenings.
On October 20, 2001, Roni married the love of her life, Dennis Hamlet. Roni never desired to have children of her own, however, Dennis already had a grown son, Brandon. Roni grew close and loved Brandon and his wife Shalina. She also got to experience the wonderful privilege of being a grandma to Brandon and Shalina’s children, Jason and Jesslyn who she loved very dearly. Together Dennis and Roni enjoyed going on cruises and camping, especially at the beach.
In 2014 Roni began her fight with cancer. During that time, they fulfilled Roni’s dream of owning a white house by the beach, Crescent City. This is where she chose to live in the final months of her life, ever so peaceful feeling the breeze of the cool coastal air and listening to the crashing waves of the ocean, the barking of the sea lions, and the foghorn of the lighthouse. She also found comfort in listening to her mother’s song that she wrote: Keep Paradise in Mind.
Roni is preceded in death by her father Charles, mother Linda, and her father-in-law Fred. She is survived by her husband Dennis, son Brandon, her mother-in-law Ruby, and her brother-in-law Fred Jr. and siblings Charles, John, Crystal, Katie, John, Justin, Danielle and Sarah and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held: On December 7, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1911 Edith Avenue, Lake Isabella, CA 93240.
