Ron Bolyard was born to Hazel and Glenn Bolyard on August 5, 1939, and passed away on February 1, 2019.
Ron grew up in Bakersfield, Calif., and in the Kern River Valley. He attended Bakersfield Community College, then graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Civil Engineering and a minor in Geology. He went on to a career in the oil industry in Texas before finally settling in Kernville, Calif., where he was an active community member.
Ron was an avid ham radio enthusiast and was also very involved with the Kern Valley Historical Society, where he was a board member and Assistant Curator for several years.
Ron is survived by Abigail Hartman, whom he mentored and loved as his own granddaughter. He left all of his geological treasures to her and kept a photo of her in his room until his passing. He is also survived by his dear friends, Terri Gallion and Tammie Barbee, and leaves behind a sister in Texas.
In lieu of a memorial service, Ron requested that donations be made in his name to the Kern River Valley Historical Society. Please call the Kern Valley Museum for details: (760) 376-6683.
