Regulators take coed playoffs

It all came down to one game to decide the Co-ed Softball League’s playoff champion.

The Regulators and the Mixed Nuts hooked up in the nine-inning championship affair.

In the end the Regulators outlasted the Mixed Nuts 17-15.

The Mixed Nuts took the early lead as they scored once in the top of the first. They added five in the second to take a 6-0 lead.

The Regulators bounced back to tie it in the bottom of the second with six runs.

In the fourth it was the Mixed Nuts turn as they tallied five runs to grab back the lead 11-6. The Regulators answered in the fifth with three runs to close the gap. The score was sitting at 11-9 for the Mixed Nuts squad.

They added another run in the top of the sixth to put it at 12-9, but the Regulators got two back to make it a one-run ball game after six innings.

In the seventh the Mixed Nuts plated a run to give them a two-run cushion, but their opponents got it right back in their at bats in the bottom of the seventh.

The eighth inning spelled doom for the Mixed Nuts as they could only add one run to their total to put the score at 14-12.

The Regulators rallied for five runs to take the 17-14 lead into the ninth inning.

The Mixed Nuts got one back and had the tying runs on base, but a pop up ended the threat and their chances of making a comeback.
The Regulators were led by David with four hits, including two home runs and a double. He also had four RBIs. Adam had three hits, including a home run and a pair of RBIs, while Bobbie had three hits, including a double and two RBIs. Rachael had three hits and two RBIs, while Brett had two hits with a home run and a double to plate four runs. Michael had a pair of hits, including a triple, while Kristi had two hits. Patrick rounded out the hitting for the Regulators with one hit.

For the Mixed Nuts, Aaron had four hits including a double to drive in three runs. Jessica had four hits and a pair of RBIs, while Matt had three hits with one of them a home run. He was credited with four RBIs in the game.

Guenter had two hits, including a home run and a double to knock in one run. Jon and Shawna each had two hits, while Kyler had one hit that went for two bases.

Shawna and Kyler each were credited with an RBI. Ashley, Amanda, and Lisa each had one hit. Teri drove in one run.

The Regulators got a forfeit win over Sons of Pitches to open the playoffs. They toppled the Punisher 16-1 to reach the playoff finals. The Mixed Nuts beat the Wild Bunch 22-8 to start and then got past the regular season champion Hot Shots 27-19. to make it to the final game.

The Hot Shots took care of Havoc 29-1 to advance to the semifinals, while the Punishers beat Lights Out 12-3 to go to the semifinals.
