Bakersfield, CA — August 23, 2024: Kern Community Foundation has awarded a $3,000 grant to Equine Rescue Outakuntrol to support the care of animals whose owners have been impacted by the Borel Fire. This grant is part of the Foundation’s broader relief efforts, bringing total funding for Borel Fire recovery to $24,650, including matching funds from 23ABC and the Scripps Howard Fund.
Equine Rescue Outakuntrol, established in 2009, has been assisting with the evacuation and care of animals from fire-affected areas. The grant will provide food, veterinary care, and supplies for horses, livestock, and dogs whose owners have lost homes or are otherwise unable to care for their animals due to the fire. Kern Community Foundation remains committed to supporting the community through the recovery process following the Borel Fire.
