Sunday, May 24, at 7:10 a.m. Zadie Ann Donovan was born at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield to Faith Andrews and Travis Donovan of Lake Isabella. What should have been a happy moment for this couple turned into worry.

Zadie was born five weeks early weighing only 4 lbs 9oz. A baby born this early has not had the chance to fully form many important parts of their body. Zadie is being kept in the NICU unit until her temperature is regulated, blood sugar levels are normal, bilirubin levels drop, and can feed off a bottle. Every day she is improving.

Zadie is currently on a feeding tube so that she is getting her required daily ml of breast milk. She will drink up to 7 ml from a bottle. Andrews and Donovan have to take turns going to visit her because of her critical condition. Every day they make the hour drive to Bakersfield just so that they can hold her.

They are praying every day that she will improve so that she can come home. The hospital has been very supportive. The couple is able to view a livestream video feed of their newborn that the hospital set up so they can see her when they are not there.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! We are praying for her speedy recovery.
