The following recommendations to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting COVID-19 are from the Kern County Public Health Service Department’s website:
•“If you go out for essential activities or to shop for necessities, remember to maintain at least 6 feet distance from individuals who do not live in your household.
•Wash hands with soap and water often, for at least 20 seconds.
•Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. Follow label instructions for proper disinfection.
•Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
•Cover your cough or sneeze with a disposable tissue or your elbow.
•Stay away from large gatherings and crowds both in public and in private.
•If you are sick, stay home from work and away from other people.
•Follow State face-covering Guidance”
According to the California Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings, individuals are mandated to wear face coverings while in indoor public spaces and public transportation, regardless of whether others are physically present, or when interacting directly with members of the public.
There are exceptions to the mandate, notably children under two years of age should not be made to wear face coverings due to the risk of suffocation, according to the Guidance. Readers are encouraged to read the entire three-page Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings, available online at: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/CDPH%20Document%20Library/COVID-19/Guidance-for-Face-Coverings_06-18-2020.pdf
