Don’t miss this month’s general meeting as we honor the Business and Organization of the Year. This year’s honorees are Golden State Surplus (Joe Ciriello, Owner) and Lake Isabella-Bodfish Property Owner’s Association (Carol Rutledge, President.) The date is October 10, 12:00 noon at Paradise Cove Lodge. Lunch is $12 for this event and will be catered by Paradise Cove. Please RSVP to the C hamber office. Lunch is not required to attend the event, but an RSVP is still required as seating is limited.
Good news, versus not so good news, on the fireworks update. As of the end of September, if the anticipated amount the Cork n’ Fork event next month is raised, we will still be short $1,800 for the 2019 fireworks show, so one way or another, the Chamber will find a way to make that happen. Thank you Elise and Dawn from Starlite Lounge for dedicating this event to the KRV Chamber fireworks fund this year.
Okay, now let’s get to the not-so-good facts. As I have stated over and over again, the way the fireworks fund has worked from the very first show is that by the time we pay for the current years fireworks balance, we have at least the deposit for the following year is in the bank. At this time, we certainly do not have that in the bank, still being short for the 2019 show. We hoped that the challenges from local business would spur others to join the pledges, but that has not happened. Soooo, unless a miracle happens, you all best enjoy the July 2019 show, as at this point it is destined to be our last. Maybe the community is giving us a subtle hint to raise money for something more sustainable; if that is the case, let us hear from you, and we will listen. Give us your thoughts.
The Kern River Valley Chamber welcomes new members Karrie Bunting, Attorney at Law, and Brandy Sampson, Real Estate Agent for Destiny Real Estate. Welcome; new business is essential to our valley’s economics and growth.
We are gearing up for the KRV Christmas Parade held on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, November 24. As always, there is no entry fee unless you enter after the deadline. This year’s theme is ‘The Magic of Christmas,’ so let your imaginations run magically wild. We are seeking award and trophy sponsorships at $25. Your name will announced during the parade and in the sponsorship thank you online and in print. Be part of what makes this parade so awesome each year. Entry forms are available in the Chamber office or online and will be included with our Lake Lines newsletter as well.
