William DeGraffenried Sheffer, 69, of Bodfish, Calif., passed away on March 5, 2017, peacefully in his sleep.
"Bill" was born in Inglewood, Calif., on July 5, 1947. He graduated from Arcadia High School and continued to build a successful business repairing boats in Marina Del Rey, Calif. He was involved in yacht racing, boating and was a Staff Commodore of South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club. Bill was also involved in collecting and riding motorcycles in the Los Angeles mountains and coast.
Bill was married to Kerry L. Briley Killingsworth (Sheffer) for 32 years. The Sheffers moved to the Kern River Valley in 2005 where they enjoyed working on their property and spending time camping, as well as raising chickens, turkeys and their loved golden retrievers.
"Barnacle Bill's" ashes will be given to sea by a canon following his celebration of life at South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club, Marina Del Rey, May 20. This day I will bury my friend. The one I laughed with, lived for, dreamed with, loved.
