Michael Dewayne Weser (Big Mike) was born on August 13, 1968, to loving parents Paul and Linda Weser. Michael came into this world living up to his future nickname of BIG MIKE, weighing in at a whopping 9 pounds, 9 ounces and 22 inches in length. As a child, Mike lived in the logging community of Johnsondale, Calif. In 1975, the family moved to Kernville, where Mike grew up to enjoy the many natural resources of recreation our Kern River Valley provides, including backpacking, fishing, and hunting. At the young age of ten, he became interested in sketching, drawing, and painting. He became quite talented and produced many fine works of art during his lifetime. Mike was extremely passionate about spending time in our beautiful surrounding mountains and enjoyed cutting wood, camping, and hunting deer. At times, he would spend weeks on end in the mountains doing these things he loved with the ones he loved.
Mike also provided the community with his landscaping, tree removal, and firewood services for many years. His hard work, honesty, and commitment led to a successful career in his field. During this time, he was able to provide knowledge to many of his employees that will serve them well in their future careers.

Mike was often referred to as the GENTLE GIANT among his friends because of his warm heart and compassionate spirit. Mike also had a great sense of humor and was quite the practical joker.

Mike was the proud father of two beautiful children, Jessica and Elijah. These two were his pride and joys. He loved spending as much time with his two children as was possible. Although he wasn't always able to be with Jessica and Elijah as much as he would like, his heart always smiled at just the thought of them.

Michael went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2017. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Happy trails to you Mike and may we all meet again in the happy hunting grounds.

The family would like to say a special heartfelt thank you to Guenter Klase. Guenter was a lifelong friend of Mike's and was very supportive and inspirational during the last few years of his life. He visited Mike often, even at the expense of losing time with his own family. Thank you Guenter, you were a true and devoted friend to Michael.

Michael is survived by his parents Linda Weser and Paul Weser and Chris Jimerson; children Jessica and Elijah Weser; siblings Johnny Weser, Joanna and Daymon Qualls, Keith and Sandra Weser, and Tonya Weser Mann; aunts and uncles Troy & Rita Weser, Raymond Oberlies, Althea Colter, Randy & Connie Riggs, and Ronnie & Betty Riggs; nieces and nephews Dylan Mann, Samantha Cox, and Axel Mann, Ashlyn Mann, and Jackie Weser; cousins Eddie Colter, Renee', Adam, Allie, and Ethan Araujo, Ashely Riggs, Kimberly Oberlies, Joey Oberlies, Renee Finnly, and Brian Weser, and many extended family members and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents Joe & Katie Weser and Joe and Oleta Riggs, stepfather Dave Martin, uncle Joe Colter, and aunt JoAnn Oberlies.

A celebration of life for Michael will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Faith Community Church located at 20 W. Panorama Dr., Wofford Heights, Calif., 93285. There will be a potluck celebration immediately following services.
