Georgia Jane Drake
Dec. 27, 1936 - April 16, 2017

Jane Drake, age 80, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, April 16, 2017. She was born on December 27, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas. She was one of four daughters born to Sarah and Georgia Early.

Jane grew up in Texas and moved to California as a teenager with her family and soon met Bobby Drake, the love of her life. They married shortly after meeting on October 24, 1954. They lived the life of a military family until 1967 and then settled in Lakewood, Calif., to raise their three children Pam, Brenda and Bobby Jr.

Jane and Bob retired in Oceanside, Calif., and enjoyed square dancing and traveling all across the United States and Canada in their RV. After many years of vacationing in the Isabella area, they moved to Lake Isabella in 1987 and continued to enjoy their retirement. Jane was a loving mother and grandmother, an incredible seamstress and made homemade pajamas for her eight grandchildren every Thanksgiving. She worked in retail, was a member of the Teamster Union while working at the shipyard, an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan and was an active member and a former President at the South Fork Women's Club, and was a member of the Highland Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children Pam and Randy Vanderhook, Brenda and Terry Chancellor, Bobby and Marty Drake, and her two sisters Geraldine Stirling and Frances Smith. She was so proud of her grandchildren: Cara, Cory, Jason, Ryan, Nick, Travis, Aaron, Rachel, Hannah and Kyle, and her four great grandchildren: Jade, Cayson, Sophia and Codie.

A private ceremony was held on Monday, April 24, at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kern County Cancer Fund, 6501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93309 or online at: www.cbccusa.com/foundation/the-kern-county-cancer-fund.
