The second of three sons born to Edgar Sr. and Vivian Berg. He has passed away after a short period of pancreatic cancer.
He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964, gaining the skills of a heavy weapon infantry man, paratrooper, expert sharp-shooter and military justice. After discharge, he became a building inspector in Los Angeles County, then Orange County.
He moved to Kern Valley in the mid-80s and settled in Bodfish Canyon. Ed had a big heart and was very interested in many things. He was an avid movie buff, discussing old scenes with his brother Bill. He was also a music lover, especially jazz and the blues. He went to many concerts with long-time friend Chris Deputy. He loved playing cards with Woody and Ellen, and he loved going to many family functions with Linda and her extended family.
He is survived by his brother, William "Bill" Berg; sister-in-law Linda Berg and her family; brothers from another mother Chris Deputy, William "Woody" Woodford, Pat Cassidy, Loretta and family, Jim Jr. and family, which include six great nieces, nine great nephews, one great-great nieces and four great-great nephews, Marcia's daughters and their families. Also, many wonderful friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Edgar Alden Berg, Sr., mother Vivian Berg, brother Jim Berg, sister-in-law Eva Berg and sister-in-law Marcia Berg.
A memorial is set for August 13 at 3 p.m. at the VFW.
