Mary Lou Dumont was born on August 3, 1926, in Ann Arbor, Mich. She passed peacefully away on Friday, January 17, 2020, in Bakersfield, Calif., at the age of 93. She married John (Jack) M. Dumont on October 3, 1950, in Tucson, Ariz., They were married until Dad passed in 1990. Mom received her nursing degree from St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson and kept it active until she was 85. After they married, Mom and Dad moved to Southern California where they started their careers and began their family of four children.
Mom generously shared her time, talents and treasure. She volunteered as a PTA President, a little league president, a school nurse, and a reading tutor. Mom volunteered at St Jude’s in Wofford Heights in the Altar Society as a Eucharistic minister, a fundraiser, and kitchen helper. Friends and family benefited from her nursing skills living longer and healthier lives. Mom was an excellent role model as a woman, wife, mother and woman of faith. Mother bore all things. She loved unconditionally. She prayed unceasingly.
Mom is survived by Janet Dumont Larkin (Larry), William Dumont (Mary), and Thomas Dumont (Jamie). Her son, John M. Dumont, Jr. passed in March 2000. She has nine grandchildren (all boys), and ten great-grandchildren. Services are pending at Queen of Heaven Cemetery and Mortuary in Rowland Heights, Calif.
