Maria Augustina Montano Richardson March 24, 1931 – May 5, 2020

Maria Augustina Montano Richardson passed away due to cardio-respiratory failure on May 5, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born on March 24, 1931 in Galisteo, New Mexico the second of nine children of Aurelio & Juanita Montano.

She was raised in Magdalena, New Mexico, where she attended school and graduated valedictorian from Magdalena High School in 1949.

She was a career bookkeeper having worked several years as audit supervisor for Sears and later bookkeeping supervisor for Smith’s Bakeries; then sole bookkeeper for Tom O’Connor surveyors.

A loving family woman, she spent quality time traveling on beach outings with daughter, Lorraine. During her single days she met her husband, Robert Richard-son at a singles event and they were married in 1969 where she also become step-mother to his three sons, Duane, Darrell & Steve.

Auggie was a very religious and active woman. She especially enjoyed singing in the church choirs. A charitable person, she gave much of her time to volunteer work at a hospital gift shop and charity thrift shop.

She was an avid exerciser and rarely missed her Silver Sneakers classes at a local gym. A happy, outgoing, social person, Auggie had many friends which she cultivated through her church and volunteer activities as well as her exercise classes.

Auggie was predeceased by brother John Montano and is survived by her loving husband, Robert, her daughter Lorraine Larribas, step-sons, Duane, Darrell & Steve Richardson, grandchildren Chad Dawson and Lisa Benmore, sister Mackie Torres, brothers Joe Montano and Gabriel Montano and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

We will miss her friendly voice, warm smile and infectious laughter dearly.

A mass will be said at St, Judes Catholic Church in Wofford Heights on Saturday, June 20, at 10:00 a.m.
