Mae was born in Waterloo, IA, to Elmer and Edith Allison. The oldest of four children, she was a super big sister. She married her sweetheart, Robert W. Heatherington, in 1943. Together they raised four children while adventuring from Illinois to California to New Mexico to Alaska to Kansas, settling in Lake Isabella in 1997.
Mae enjoyed camping in California, New Mexico, and Alaska but especially loved helping Bob build several cabins at the lake in Willow, AK, and a log home in Jemez Springs, N.M. At one time, she worked as a welder, worked for Ma Bell in the ‘40s, clerked at Sears, was an operator for the State of New Mexico and retired as a supervisor for Anchorage Telephone Utility.
Maesie was so fun loving and positive. She loved a party and dancing. At last, she can dance with her sweetheart again. Ma passed away peacefully at home with family at her side into the waiting arms of her savior.
Her request was to not have a service but to remind all to dance on with a smile.
Oh, and when you tip a cold one, remember Maesie!
