Letters to the Editor (Pub. August 7, 2019)

Mesa Fire in Squirrel Valley

Kern County Fire, U.S. Forest Service, BLM, Cal Fire, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, air support (those amazing pilots and spotters), heliport, Caltrans and Cal Water.
Thank you, Kyle Steinberg, for spotting the fire and calling 911. The first group to respond was the South Lake station of the Kern County Fire Department, and with their water truck, they diverted that fire away from the houses and until the other ones came.

Thank you everyone who was involved in fighting the Mesa Fire in Squirrel Valley. They all did an outstanding job in protecting people, homes, and property. Fast action, hard work, preparation, and dedication by all the responders. We are so thankful to have all of you. Be safe. What an amazing group effort and coordination of many units.
