Letters to the Editor

I’m wondering if Julie Giyer, one of the editors of the Kern Valley Sun might be a white supremacist.
Her article on the Sun’s front page of June 10 begins with the following sentence: “Following the death of George Floyd, mass protests and riots have broken out all over the country. ”
Would it not have been more appropriate to say something like, “Following the murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police…” ?
She goes on to say the whole purpose of the demonstrations and riots is “malicious intent”. How does she know that? This is not factual. Perhaps the intent is to bring about “social change”; a change that has been needed for decades and is long overdue.
This article was much more of an opinion piece than a factual news article. Perhaps it should have been published as an editorial rather than news.
