Lexi LaFarga is coming to the end of her softball career, while Samantha Alvarez is just starting hers.

These two ladies are playing for Porterville College and San Francisco State, respectively.

In a show of support for these former Lady Broncs, two contingents of fans went on the road trip to bring some of the valley to the athletes.

LaFarga just completed her career at Porterville. Her career stats for the Lady Pirates were as follows: She played in 55 games, with 114 at bats. She had 27 hits, including one double, while scoring 16 runs. LaFarga drove in 14 runs and was issued 13 walks for a .237 average. Her OBP (on base percentage) was a respectable .313.

Alvarez, playing for San Francisco State as a freshman, has played in 46 games with 99 at bats. She has collected 27 hits, including a pair of doubles for an average of .273. She has scored 18 runs, amassed 12 RBIs and has been walked six times for an OBP of .351. Alvarez has also swiped five bases in five attempts this season.

This furthers the recent success of Kern Valley athletes moving up to compete at the next level.
