The Lady Broncs closed out the regular season with a pair of victories to put them firmly in second place in the High Desert League.

They were on the road for both games as they went up against Rosamond and Cal City.

The Cal City game was a blow out as Kern Valley won easily 33-4. The game with Rosamond was a little tougher as the Lady Broncs escaped with the 11-8 win.

When they faced the Lady Roadrunners, Kern Valley took the early lead with three runs in the top of the first. Rosamond bounced back to score six runs to make the score 6-3 after one.

Kern Valley tied the score in the third and grabbed it back in the fourth when they scored three more runs to put the score at 9-6. The Lady Roadrunners had an answer as they climbed back to within one run with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 9-8.

The Lady Broncs got some insurance as they plated a pair of runs in the top of the seventh. Rosamond had the tying run at the plate in their half of the seventh, but were shut down to give the Lady Broncs the hard-fought win.

Head coach Brianna Moss said, “The game at Rosamond started great. Sam (Alvarez) and Sadi (Hartman) hit back to back home runs in the first inning. We committed a few too many errors in the bottom of the first and fell behind. But the girls were able to pull things together and keep hitting and win the game.”

Making the trip to Cal City two days later, the Lady Broncs used it as batting practice. As a team they collected 21 hits, including 10 for extra bases. The scored early and often as they crushed the Lady Ravens winning by 29 runs. Of the 13 batters that took their turn at the plate, 10 of them had at least one hit in the game.

The Lady Broncs jumped from the gate quickly as they scored six runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. They added 10 runs in the second, sending the 13 batters to the plate. Alvarez and Hartman had back-to-back home runs as the highlight to the inning. They put up another six in the third and six more in the fourth and capped it off with five runs in the fifth inning.

Hayes in the circle struggled at first in finding her groove. She allowed all four runs in the first two innings, but settled down to take control the rest of the way.
