The Kern Valley tennis team made the trip to Arvin to take on the Lady Bears. They would suffer through the heat and fall 1-7-1 to Arvin in the match.
The Lady Broncs managed to collect 28 games in the 93 sets that were played. The lone win came from Abby Phillips who won her match 8-2. The tie came from Kyra Flint. Rounding out singles action, Phillips would fall 1-8 in her match. Double play saw the team of Tate and Davis lose 3-8. The team of Beam and Kylie Griswold lost 2-8, and the doubles partners of Phillips and Flint lost 0-8.
Head coach Sabine Mixon said, “If we merely consider the pre-season in terms of wins and losses, we lose the whole purpose behind playing larger schools during our pre-season. However, when we recognize the growth occurring, and the experience gained, we understand how valuable these moments on the court are. I am thankful that we have the opportunity to play the larger schools and am excited to start league play in a few weeks.”
Next up for Kern Valley was McFarland who they hosted on Tuesday. On Thursday they will begin HDL action with a match on the road against Rosamond.
