Lady Broncs stay undefeated

The Lady Broncs varsity basketball team stayed undefeated in High Desert League play as they crushed Bishop.

This game was over before it started as Kern Valley won the game easily 48-7.

The Lady Broncs opened an 11-point lead after the first quarter and dominated the rest of the way. The defense allowed just three points in the first quarter and zero in the second. The Lady Broncs offense dropped in 14 in the first and 19 in the second to go to the break with the lead 33-3.

The second half was more of the same as Kern Valley scored 15 points, while the Lady Broncos were limited to four points.

The win allowed Kern Valley to go through the first round of the HDL undefeated at 6-0. Rosamond sits in second at 4-1. On the season the Lady Broncs are 12-3 overall.

Hannah Hurley led the team in scoring as she had 21 points, including hitting twice from three-point land. Bradlie Preston followed with seven points, including a three-pointer, while Haley Tedrow and Maddie Hurley each scored five points. Tedrow had one three-pointer in the game. Sadi Hartman added four points, while Addy Goulding had three points which came from a successful three-point shot. Brenna Acosta had two points, while Alyssa Servin sank a free throw for her lone point of the contest.

On the boards, M. Hurley led the team with 17 rebounds. Hartman finished with 10 boards, while Servin had eight rebounds. Preston and H. Hurley each had six boards, while Mariah Maxwell was credited with three rebounds. Tedrow and Acosta each had a pair of boards, while Goulding and Sharon Reyes each had one rebound in the game.

Acosta, H. Hurley, and M. Hurley were each credited with a pair of assists and shared the team lead. Preston and Goulding had one assists apiece.

H. Hurley completed a double-double as she was the team leader in steals with 11. Hartman had three steals, while Preston, Tedrow, Goulding, Acosta, and M. Hurley each had one steal.

As a squad Kern Valley recorded eight blocks. They came from eight different Lady Broncs players. Preston, Tedrow, Acosta, H. Hurley, M. Hurley, Servin, Maxwell, and Hartman were the swat-team against Bishop.

Kern Valley was home against Boron on Tuesday as they began the second go around in the HDL. On Friday they will travel to Desert to face off with the Lady Scorpions.
